If music be the food of love play on

Reunited and back for a final year of Woodburn magic & what better way to share some of the madness, culinary disasters or freak 'creme de la cremes', anecdotes, music and laughter that fills our student home than with a house blog! We don't promise domestic goddess tips, deep thoughts, scientific musings, theological exposition, witty jokes, or things that make much sense, but what we can promise is the preciousness of the things that DO matter to us- 'Three things will last forever- faith, hope, and love- and the greatest of these is love'-1Corinthians 13:13. We have come to know the value of opening ourselves up and sharing lives through the music & lyrics of the everyday; the kettle boiling, the sound of giggling, the parakeet, Heidi's guitar playing and the kitchen ipod playlist, and we'd LOVE to share some moments with you :-) Enjoy and spread some happiness ;-)

Christmas day surprise all the way from California ;)

Christmas day this year was spent in a complete state of shock for me! Father Christmas showed up at my door around midday with a sparkling ring... best present ever :) I had absolutely no idea he had this planned.... here are some photos of blotchy me after I say YES!

Let's just say the revision plan has gone out the window and i'm finding the wedding planning to be perfect procrastination! ;) Not to mention our Paris trip coming up and my trip over the pond to NYC!

Merry Christmas to one and all from the Woodburn Girls xxx

Hannah took her pro-camera for a walk- and this is what she came back with....beautiful...

Our final weeks were pretty crazy with multiple essay/presentation deadlines but we certainly made time for some Christmas celebrations too, with a very impressive and delicious Christmas dinner with all the trimmings on the final night :-) So on behalf of Woodburn Terrace....we wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Also, just to share a bit about what happened over raisin weekend...which I can't believe I haven't blogged about before!.... Cupcakes, foam, Prince William a
nd Kate (costumes!) and....raisins! I had such a fun time with my wonderful daughters Jeannie and Estefy and of course a little help from my housemates- Auntie Heidi and Hannah :)

Happee St Andrews Day ;-)

It's on this day each year that we St Adrians celebrate a day off lectures, free museums, a beautiful view of our town from St Rules tower and I personally reflect on my baptism day (two years ago today) and my journey since then. To commemorate St Andrews Day 2010, I wrote a card to my parents, which included a wee scottish poem with scottish weird words about a 'puddock that was prood' (a frog that was proud!). There challenge was to decipher this foreign* language and I gave them a few clues..... Here's my mum's very funny response; she's dun me reet prood! p.s- Mum you NEED to write that novel soon- you're so talented! Love you xxx

A Corrie stood on St Andrews first tee
An' she thocht there was never a golfer like she,
She got out her driver and waggled its shaft,
An' stuck out her bottom an' looked vary daft.
The little miss Topliffe was feeling that prood
She gapit her mou an she croakit oot lood,
Fore to the left and verra fore to the right,
Where this ball lands will be fare out of sight.
She swang that wee club and her ball went a flying,
Ower fairway and tourists and picnickers dining.
Neer such a more wayward ball was there struck,
But the wee lassie then didn't know of her luck.
A certain known filmstar stil looking to wed
Was taking his shot when that ball hit his head.
Hugh lay dazed and stunned, Corrie ran to his side,
And neer a more bonnie wee lass had he spyde,
He managed ta struggle and get on one knee
And pleaded 'you beauty, please marry me!'
Corrie gapit her mou and croakit noo noo!
Ma sweetheart is Ryan and I love him sooo.
The bigsy hurt Hugh was haughty and proud,
Refusing Hugh Grant neer was that ever allowed.
It runkled his feathers to be so refused.
Regaining composure, he still felt abused.
Head throbbing, heart wounded, he went on his way,
And the bonny young lassie continued her play.

'Cos I see sparks fly whenever you smile

Heidi was on the ball and grabbed her new CD, wopping it onto the Ipod kitchen playlist and blasting some more fun, country-esque, girly, cheeky, romantic....and rather predictable new Taylor hits! Give us to week 8 and we'll have all the songs memorised ;-)

Skinny genes

We're wopping on the skinny jeans tonight! Eliza's concert is here! I woke up early with excitement and decided to update our blog. So pack up and get down to the union- 9pm for some Doolittle magic!
This week was a crazy week for me (Cor) with a billion deadlines...fortunately i'm
still alive to tell the tale and surprisingly without hypothermia! -Top floor of the library is ARCTIC man!
I was sat up there the other night with hat, twenty layers, gloves and still felt the air con wooshing round- WHO PUTS AIR CONDITIONING IN A SCOTTISH LIBRARY?!!!

On a positive note, Scott and Hannah took me back to the Costa de la Luz last night with a selection of tapas, Rioja wine and proper olive oil ! Best meal yet :-) Thanks guys! We finished the night watching Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants 2 and a bowl of cookie dough icecream with hot chocolate sauce.... paradise :-) Now, we ladies are quite aware that our taste in men is rather different- probably for the best! SO watching the film, we all gasped and sighed when each of the guys came on;
needless to say, my favourite was the mediterranean Greek Kostos (top left), Heidi totally had the hots for the play actor Ian (bottom right), and Hannah..well Scott was here so not too much gasping came from her....but I think she secretly liked Leo (top right)...and yet we still came to the verdict that, despite looks, the winner of 'Best boyfriend in Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants' should be awarded to....

BRIAN!!

In other news, to share our TUNE of the WEEK.... thanks to Matt's performance last saturday night... we give you 'Just the way you are'....
